I know weather forecasters often get it wrong but I wonder if we only NOTICE it more. We are supposed to get wumped with a possible foot of snow and 50 mph winds. They said it would start at one o clock. Well...12:45 it starts. So heavy I can't see the barn from the house. I think about the early settlers. How they were left to myths and observations to help them figure out the weather future. I think about the armistice day blizzard in 1940. How unprepared people were when they left their houses for a warm fall day (60's) then the temp falls 50 degrees and we got 27 inches of snow. 140 people died. We bitch about the weather man but THIS time he got it right. |
