d_ashley's blog post - the flight of the bumblebee...

Tuesday, May 8, 2007, 5:29:03 AM
I used to think that the bumblebee was defending their nest, as that they would show up during the spring and would seem to attack anything and everything that would come within their teritory. but was I wrong, as I watched them the other week and saw that they were just trying to mate with another bumblebee as when she would come around, and that the attack was just a poor eye sighted [and horny] bumblebee just trying to sow its oats...
I remember a few years back when I watched as a bumblebee "attack"[wink] a wasp and then turned and flew for its life with the wasp behind its heals, and as the bumblebee plowed into the side of the house, then bounce back and fly over the roof out of sight...I guess the bumblebee was looking over its shoulder to see if the wasp was still behind it when it hit the wall[ooh the headache sad] aaand I guess that the wasp wasnt in the mood for some bumblebee action either, as it attacked the bumblebee... smile)
