I was driving in a old midwestern industrial town and at the light just ahead of me a 1970's Ford Torino started to stop at the light but then it turned. Suddenly another one drove by me and stopped at the light. I thought, now that's unusual. It had a tail light out so I pulled up next to it to tell the driver. It was a pretty blonde about 30 years old. Her passenger I would find out later was her boyfriend and in the backseat was her Mom. I told her about the light and I said I could take a look at it if she wanted. We agreed to pull over in a parking lot ahead. The boyfriend was not happy but the Mom was ok with it. They, like me, were just driving thru.I found that it was a burned out bulb. There was a gas station down the street, just past a big, old abandoned brick apartment building. So I walked over and got the bulb.As I passed the building, I noticed a huge boulder about 5 feet tall in front of it.How odd I thought. As I was putting the new bulb in a semi truck pulled into the loading dock of the company's lot we were in.Suddenly, people came out and quickly, started unloading the trailer. A woman from up on the dock, called out to me. She said we had better get back in our cars and leave. Screwdriver in hand, I explained what I was doing.I walked closer and she told me that 50 some people had mysteriously disappeared in that town without a trace. No clues left at all.All the while she was telling me this, her and two guys kept looking around. Always looking. The blonde had come over to hear what was going on, with the boyfriend right behind her, bugging her to get going. The Mom was still in the car. The people finished unloading the truck and went back inside. My job completed, I said good bye to the people in the Torino and we drove our separate ways. After we drove past the apartment building and with no one in sight, the boulder quickly moved into the open doorway of the building. Hiding in the shadows. Why it did not get me, I do not know. Because of witnesses? Then I woke up. Any dream analyzers out there? |
