I never buy scratch off tickets. No reason why not, I just never have. Lotto yea. Scratchers nope.
Today, I was in line to buy a superlotto ticket. Man ahead of me, reeking of cigarette smoke and booze, cashed in a scratcher. He took another ticket with the winning. Then he asked for a ticket from another game. Clerk takes it out, scans it and asks for $5. Man says he wants to trade the tickets. Clerk say all sales final. Man gets belligerent. This argument goes on for a good minute. Finally man say fuck you and leaves. Clerk is bitching, pissin, and moaning over being stupid. Really beating himself up. He told me he should know better than to pull a ticket off the roll before the guy shows cash.
I ask the clerk what happens now. He said he eats the ticket. I tell him I will buy the ticket. I go home and about an hour later scratch it off. Won $30. Somedays.
