NoSecrets's blog post - ok I've now run out of patience

I apparently have a choice to make thanks to NN. I can delete my friend's list and not be able to chat to anyone, see when they post a new pic, blog or status update. Or I keep my friend's list but continue to make no public comments on blogs or status updates, or wait for NN to consider "adding another level to friends, called "intimate friends". I can also make another account to comment from but have a feeling that would get too confusing for me to keep up with.

Apparently I've been using my friend's list all wrong all along anyways! On the forum NN said, " friends was always thought of as friends you really know" So apparently I should have only had Wordweaver as a friend! He's the only one I've ever met in person! Who knew? So if we're only here to "show off" and not meet anyone I guess we shouldn't have any friends!?! I guess I didn't realize there were rules when the new friend feature was created. I thought it was a convenient way for us to keep track of those we wanted to interact with in one way or another, be that chat, perv or read their blogs, but nope only for people you actually know! So then maybe I should just delete the whole thing? I mean, yeah I met Wordweaver once, but do I really KNOW him? Does any of us really know anyone? I liked Word and all, but that doesn't mean I want him to know everything I ever do here. Hmmmm

This seems to be getting more and more complicated to me. Seems it would have been much easier to let us have the choice on what to share and what not to... but what do I know?

I only know that I'm just a house wife, not a porn star, not here for anyone's else's entertainment, not here to be stalked or even bothered when I don't want to be bothered. I just want to come here chat when I want to, perv when I want to, read blogs/status updates when I want to, and do all that privately like we used to. Am I really asking for too much? Guess so...

NN said on the forum "We are considering adding another level to friends, called "intimate friends" You will then be able to choose if you want your activity shown to all friends or just the intimate ones. If you want noone to see any of your activity then you just dont flag any of your friends as "intimate". Your friends will not be told if they are just normal friends or intimate ones. As I have mentioned before, friends was always thought of as friends you really know, but most haven't been using it like that, so having "intimate friends" as another layer will give that much more control, not just for notifications, but lots of other areas like IM chat, friends activity and so on." So until and unless he "considers" doing that. I guess we're screwed.

juicy	18-Jun-11 15:05:07 The beeauty of the internet is anonymity which is why we use nicknames etc. Notifications still grates with me. I am not sure I even want "intimate" friends knowing all of my activity on here. I would love to see more options as to who if anyone gets notified about what if anything.

That wasn't sufficient, and now you are asking that they don't get notified of your posts on blogs or status updates! MAKES NO SENSE - why would you comment if you don't want anyone - ESPECIALLY your NN "Friends" so see your contributions to those discussions? You may as well ask for a feature "Don't show ANYONE ANYTHING I post on the site" Do you see where it's going? If you don't want anyone, especially your "friends" to see stuff you contribute - why are you contributing?
