I had a really peculiar dream last night caused by NN! It was actually a bit distressing at the time, but amusing on reflection!

I dreamt that I was in work, sitting at my computer (only in a building I haven’t worked in for about 5 years!). Without thinking about it, I tapped into NN and started to fiddle with my pics and browse profiles. I was having a great time, until… I realised that I wasn’t in the comfort of my home, was doing this in work….!

Now I am not allowed to access anything vaguely naughty or dodgy on my work system (and in reality it wouldn't let me as we have very high security settings) but in the dream, it let me access the site.

I had a feeling of doom – for browsing porn I would be disciplined for and perhaps even lose my job! IT would have a record of me accessing the site and would tell HR! Oh god, everyone would know I was on NN too! I asked someone (who was randomly there) what I should do and they recommended ringing IT, telling them I had made a mistake and pleading with them to make any IT logs go away.

I looked at the clock. It was 9pm… Why the Hell was I in work at 9pm?! (you’d be lucky to get me in work most days at 9am, let alone pm!)

I spent most of the dream trying to unsuccessfully ring IT, getting more and more anxious and upset! I eventually got through to someone who was obviously pissed and in the middle of a party. I couldn’t speak to him properly but he knew who I was (which was a bit spooky). He told me who he was, but I’d never heard of him!

I hung up and the dream seemed to continue in the vein of Scooby Doo crossed with Lost. We (suddenly there were about 10 of us) were running around the building a lot, down dark corridors leading no-where, chasing something and then turning around and letting it chase us. Then, very suddenly, we were all in a cinema tied to the seats. Something was going to chop our heads off (apparently!). The “something” in question was no-where to be seen however.

Then, who should burst in, but the party of IT people, led by the bloke I’d spoken to on the phone (he still knew me but I have never seen him before in my life). These people were in costume – they were dressed like weird 18th century French aristocrats (powdered wigs and faces and all!). They cut us free and rescued us and we started to party (I think to “Loveshack” This scene of the dream reminded me of the end of all those 1980s films with people like Rodney Dangerfield surrounded by bikini clad women, shouting “Hey let’s party!”.

The creature or whatever it was, disappeared, and everyone was happy.

I remember feeling the irony in the dream – we were saved from having our heads chopped off by people dressed as members of the French aristocracy. When I woke, I couldn’t work out if:

a) this means something but fuck knows what!
b) my brain has just dumped a pile of useless nonsense out
of my head!
c) I am not totally sane

(I was also feeling very anxious for the first 10 mins of waking as all I could remember was the feeling that I was going to get into trouble at work! It is amazing how dreams fuck with your head when they are that realistic!)
