This is the name of an arts exhibition I visited today. A great collection of pictures by the surrealist René Magritte in a wonderful museum at Riehen, Switzerland. I am sure everyone is familiar with one or the other picture by the artist - if you have seen them once, you will hardly forget them again. I love surrealist paintings a lot - they seem so much like our lives. Every incident is easily to explain, every feeling comes straight from the heart - but its proportion that makes life so difficult to fathom. Like the surrealist artist who does not create new things, but puts the well known into unusual relationships. |
