Greece
Well I’m off on my annual drive to Greece, usually fun except for the tolls, if unmanned you have to drive forward enough to trigger the sensor then somehow get around the car to pay, with everybody behind you honking their horns! Cannot get my usual Venice ferry to Greece as Minoan has pulled out of this route so ANEK is swamped so I'm going via Ancona. It would have been nice having someone ride shotgun to pay the tolls and check the maps so that the sat nav doesn’t send me down a ‘shortcut’, perhaps I should have posted this earlier?

Wondered where you had been, glad to know your off to enjoy !!

In case you didnt hear, to resolve the Arab Israeli conflict, Schweddy and I decided to let the Jews call Greece home. The territory currently known as Israel is full of unresolvable conflict. You will now be eating Matzah ball soup !! No more souvlaki for you !

Runt, all Greek cooking is Turkish, only they say they taught the Turks how to cook in the first place! My previous experiences in Italy have been that it's hard to find a restaurent, when I complained to an Italian he replied 'when your momma cooks so good why go out to eat?

No matter how many times I go to their countries I am still astonished at how good French bread is and how sublime Italian coffee is.

I grew up with Imperial and I stick with Imperial, metric is for the lab, Imperial is for life.

Why
not try via Slovenia to macedonia ? Now the new motorway is largely open it's not a bad run

A bit of a long drive and at least another hotel in Italy, when you factor in fuel Venice is as cheap and you get away from the car for a while. I like Italian coffee but not autostrada. If you got to Igonomitsa you arrive so late you have to go straight to an hotel and if you go to Patra it's still overnight on the ferry!

Yet another regulation, if you drive across France, Italy and Greece you have to have, a photo licence and the car's log book. A first aid kit, a red reflective triangle, a spare bulb kit, prisms to alter the angle of your beams, a high visibility vest, for everyone in the car and they must be able to reach them from within the car, and now two approved breatherlizers. You cannot be prosicuted on the results of your breatherliser, but any policeman can require you to use one.

At this rate I aint going to have room for a change of draws!
