Monday, April 8, 2013, 4:56:58 AM- Not the cure
Mmm, nothing like some strong booze to clear the sinuses... Mandarine Napoleon, yummy and kept my nose clear for half a night. Or maybe it was the nose drops smile

Sunday, April 7, 2013, 10:02:49 AM- So yeah
From simply a sore throat to a sore throat, a runny nose, a stuffy head and slight coughing. Whoopee, such a great weekend tongue
Oh yeah, to add to my feeling of wonderfulness, I'm on my period too.

Never mind, I'm going to continue cleaning up the pile of papers (and other messes) on my desk and correct the recruitment tests I should have tackled last Friday.

I hope your Sunday is more fun smile

Saturday, April 6, 2013, 8:18:42 AM- New development in epidemiology
After airborne and waterborne diseases, is there now a shocking new way of transmitting illness, the internet?

I think I got my sore throat from TWL wink

Friday, April 5, 2013, 12:21:43 PM- Random thought
During a stand-up philosophy gig (yes, you read right) I heard the statement that sneezing is similar to having an orgasm.

And as soon as he said it, I sort of agreed with him smile

Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 5:23:47 PM- Dear Sir, Madam
Dear Subway Lady,
I realise it is of vital importance to have your hands free for texting. But do you think it is more important than those five people around you who wanted to hold onto the pole that you were leaning against with your whole body?

Dear Passerby,
Yes, our driveway is old and worn. It doesn't mean that it is your garbage disposal area.

Dear Supermarket Lady,
I realise you are probably in a hurry. Pushing your shopping cart into my ass will not make me go faster.

Is discourteousness the new fashion?

Tuesday, April 2, 2013, 9:07:26 PM- two for two
Two workouts in two days. Because the number on the scales needs to come down significantly instead of increasing constantly... I'm fed up feeling fat and unhealthy...

Sunday, March 31, 2013, 7:44:10 PM- Don't look back
Sometimes I feel life is like a scene in Indiana Jones: you just have to look forward and run. Stop to look behind you and that boulder will roll right over and crush you.

That was my 'deep thought' of the day. I'm shutting my brain off now for the rest of the evening, after a family Easter dinner marked by heated discussions about my grandmother's inheritance and a nostalgic hour devoted to a box of old photographs we found in her house.

Friday, March 29, 2013, 3:40:52 PM- Internet freakshow
Well, we don't have many of the freakshows of the old days any more: the bearded ladies, the giants, the dwarves... But of course, these kinds of people still exist and can be found on the internet.

I spent the past hours looking up all kinds of information on conjoined and parasitic twins, fascinating stuff. I'd love to write a story about it, but I don't want it to be a "freak show" story though.

Just imagine having to cooperate with your sister/brother to do simple things like walk, imagine trying to build a relationship, imagine having fused brains so you can share thoughts, imagine your life literally depending on the life of your brother/sister, imagine not being allowed to learn to read and write because the school in your town says you're "too distracting" for the other students.

Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 6:45:39 PM- phew
Well, that's another discovery... To realise that one can come across as super nervous, even when being relaxed.
I was feeling great when I went in front of them, and as I started talking, my mouth dried up and my breathing got irregular. Those people must have thought I was petrified, even if I was only slightly stressed.
Contentwise, not a problem, a good presentation. Which most of them will not have known, because I was told to present in Dutch, which is a minority language in Brussels. But the slides were in French smile

Oh well, it's a good learning experience and not really unpleasant smile now it's time to decompress and finally have some dinner - it's almost 8PM here.

Wednesday, March 27, 2013, 7:01:41 AM- Long day
It's going to be a long day... At 6 PM, I will have to present the activities of my department to some fifteen local politicians. Granted, I won't be alone, several colleagues also have to present their departments, but it's still not something I look forward to. On a rational level, I do realise I need the practice. The more I do this type of thing, the less nervous I will be.

Anyway, in view of this activity I thought my usual attire wouldn't be appropriate. Don't get me wrong, I'm still wearing jeans today, but with a smart little vest (usually for funerals and job interviews...), high heel boots and some jewellery. That's as far as I'll go wink I couldn't find my grey pants anyway, must have been in the laundry... smile
