but i guess we are in serious times.

it truely bothers me about the way people look at crime, punishment and jail time but they never seem to understand the economics. i recently read about a non-violent case of really bad judgement and bad behavior and the individual was sentenced to 30 days in jail, 30 days house arrest. very public trial and people are unhappy that he did not get more time in jail. i am upset that he got any time in jail because 1) i am paying the cost of jail time and 2) the violent person is not in jail because the non violent person is in jail taking up space. and if you suggest build more jail space, the answer is "nimby" and it costs to much.

maybe we should just start to hold people accountable at an early age for their actions and they will become better behaved adults and we will need less jail space.

so, i have been working on document i have to file to get reimbursement for some medical costs. done all the work i need to do, pull out the flash drive so i can take it to work to print (has a big spread sheet so i need an 11x17 printer), flash drive is suppose to have the other document i need ( from a couple of years ago), open the drive and it is empty. nothing. two flash drive look alike and now i have no idea where the one i need is. hope i can find the drive at work or the materials stored on my computer at work. otherwise, i am sort of screwed.

as we depend more and more on computers and traveling storage, we lose track of things. sometimes i miss the old days. but i did not have you for friends in the old days.

well, the media circus is sort of over. some sick people are still making treats against the girl.

but here is the question: how many girls or boys will attend parties in their community this weekend, not have parents care, drink or do drugs to the point of passing out or just losing control and have some sex act performed on them that they will not remember. wake up naked or with no bottoms and not remember how that got there.

how many friends will step in at no small risk to themselves and prevent this from happen?

if news organization or advocacy group finds out about it and it does not involve a sports figure, will they pursue it. if it happens in a poor neighborhood, will anyone care?

will photos and vid still be taken and posted on the internet or will people respect others rights of privacy?

i finish with this thought. if i went to pick my teenage son or daughter up from a party and found naked or half naked teenagers there, i would hit the roof. if i got there and saw empty liquor bottles, i would get upset. if the parents were not there, i would hit the roof.

it upsets me that my daughter is sleeping with her boyfriend under my roof but she is not a teenager.

parenting is an active sport. parenting requires that we do things that are uncomfortable. but it is alot less uncomfortable that losing your child because she or he commits suicide because they were abused, or or bullied.......

i am at a total loss on this. i just know that it is about our children.

i have started this four times and deleted it. i really don't know what to say.

but, i guess the bottom line is this. some of our children see sex and sex partners as something to be taken. there is no understanding amoung friends that they must protect their friends when they are getting ready to damage themselves or others but do not realize it. people have feeling and privacy and everything does not have to be photographed, filmed, blogged or put on the internet.

the sex that is going on in high schools today is what was only found at adult swinger parties or private sex clubs 10 years ago. but the difference is that adults have rules of behavior and and high schools don't. adults don't take picture without consent and teenagers can not help themselves. and teenagers can not think 10 minutes ahead so they do see the consequences.

when i was a freshman at college, before my first party, the sophmores called us together and said to us
1) watch your drink
2) travel in pair or more and no one leave without the others.
3) boys want to get a feel if not sex.
4) don't get so drunk that you can not protect yourself or you will become the locomotive of a train--never saw one but saw a lot of girls dragged out of a party before they reached that point.

and you know, they are just children with raging hormones and little to no adult guidance.

maybe we should do away with all of the pc teaching and get down to basics with the teenagers.

1) you have sex with multiple partners, you are going to get an STD and die--period.

2) you drink to excess at a party, you will be sexually attacked or you will sexually attack someone. and you will either a victim or a and you will carry that with you for your entire life and possibly to prison.

3) if he or she can not say yes, the answer is no. and if the answer was yes earlier, it does not mean yes for the entire night.

4) friends protect friends----from getting harmed and from doing harm.
