Marketing - Biz ideas - marketing peeps your help wanted!

Hi Guys & Gals,

Ok so after what - 13 years of running the site I am finally going to crowd source some help!!

Surely we have some experienced marketing peeps among us.. If you are one of them - now is the time!

What am I looking for? Open discussion on the topic of marketing the site.

Google adwords has been traditionally our largest source of new users, and this time last year Google decided to ban all adult sites from advertising on the service.

This has impacted our ability to find new users to join the community - and this is what we want to discuss here.

So - lets just have a discussion about possible ways to attract new users - or more premiums - or both.

Thanks in advance, and please spread the word about this thread.

If they have to use an email to get the freebie, it could help discourage that. And maybe offer it only after they've been members for a certain set of days? After 30 days get one day of premium? Or something ... Or not.

That's a good way to keep them & give them a taste to upgrade, however we've got to figure out a way to get them to come here first.

Can you add a banner or an ad onto a porn site? People looking at porn might want to start their own and they can do that here on NN.

What if every member had a scanable barcode thing. We were talking in status about having personal NN business cards. If each member had a bar code they could help get more people here. Better than a link you could post the var code anywhere and would leave ppl wanting to scan it.

My mini thoughts for now

KC I'm still on board with the NN cards. I haven't found a design I like yet. Considering making my own. I really really like the embossing NN idea

this is a very general question what do you want exactly. More people visiting the site random or more people who become premium. Because premium costs money and therefor you need to reach out to an other target group. The group who has money and like amateur porn. My question would be what is the target group then you can make a plan to get in contact with them. Temp free premium doesn't work i think. People take a new account and have free premium again. Better reward loyal members.

placing banners on some quality porn sites is maybe a possibility. I know i had a hard time finding NN.

We have this - this is the whole foundation of Nudles.. You have a nudle code in a link to NN that you can hand out and you are credited for members that join from that..

We want users that like user generated erotic content. They don't have to be cashed up - because obviously everyone adds value to the community - be it by contributing comments, views, votes or pics themselves. If we can get enough free users then the premiums fall out in the wash.

We can't advertise on other adult sites, mostly because all the fake dating sites have pushed the prices to crazy levels. Numbers like $6 per joined member (just an email address) are the sort of prices that are being paid.

Aero is correct, you need to know who to target and concentrate your resources on them. You can identify your target groups by analysing your current premium members. You could select a random group of premium NNers and ask them to complete an anonymous and confidential questionnaire about their lifestyle, background, hobbies, etc etc. Obviously a market research expert would be best placed to word the questions and interpret the results for you. Knowing who to go after will help decide how to go after them.

Would it be an idea to have two levels of premium, at different prices? Something with only the most used perks? And I could imagine the most used perks could (on average) be different for men and women. One wanting more pm's and comms options in general, the other videos and bigpic. I know I am generalizing here to the point it becomes insulting, please forgive me for that. Also selling an extra set of pms and responses could be interesting. In general more flexibility. That in light of the fact that some people (don't know how many, but you probably do, NN) have active periods and less active ones, so their needs, sorry, wants are not always the same. I know all this makes it a lot more complicated.

I also hear a lot of feedback that premium is expensive. Of course it is not, but only if you take 6 or 12 months at once. Compared to that, the one or two month option is very dear. If those prices could come down a bit for people who just can't afford to put the money up upfront. And give everyone a once-off low cost month or even week of premium.

I also like the idea of gifting people a day (a month?) of premium. My thought would be to do that on a different day for each, and preferably during the week.

There, my thoughts. Don't know how useful it is, but I'll leave that up to you.

In a way yes... We are happy with the conversion rates to premium members. It is just more new (free) members that we need and these will convert at the same rate to premium as usual.

If people were given an automated reason when a photo is deleted, it might lessen the feelings of resentment or irritation in some quarters.

Selfie Nudes could attract some people too, but Status is full of people complaining their photo hasn't appeared. (Have a look!) I abandoned the site after one attempt, back when it first opened. And, yep, I did the obligatory whine in Status, on 24 April.

On NN, Brenda, Britney and I have all had CD photos modded off without explanation, and so have other 'dressers. Can't CDs be redirected to NBN where they'll be made to feel welcome?
