| Wednesday, June 19, 2013, 12:33:57 AM- | Yeah....so.... Sunday when Poohbare was bopping around ebay, he came across two unopened rolls of silver dollars from a Carson City bank. The bank failed and closed up in 1907. There were no silver dollars produced between 1904 and 1921, so we know the rolls contain dates from 1904 and earlier. At the time he found these auctions, they had 13 hours left.
So.... the next 13 hours passed in a ... let's go with "greatly heightened state of anxiety" as Poohbare proceeded to stare with grave intensity at the coins visible at each end of these two rolls and did a bunch of research to try to figure out clues as to what years at least those four coins were minted. And shared every discovery. woot?
Meanwhile, he continued to check the status of the auctions, stalk the various bidders, make disparaging remarks about their bidding habits, what they've bought, and their family lineage. *snicker*
Finally, in an act of sheer desperation told him "PICK ONE! Pick a roll, bid up to $4,500 and just buy the damn thing!" hoping this would put an end to it all. He picked. He bid. He won. While he paid less than the max amount, an end was not put to it all. *sigh*
He is now grumbling that the coins did not arrive today. Mind you, they were only marked as "shipped" early this morning and they are coming cross-country. Darn snail mail!
Oh, did I mention the agonizing that's gone on with "Should I keep the roll intact? Should I open it? I shouldn't open it. But what if there's a _____ in there? It's worth $______." You get the picture.
Poor man. Even he has started laughing at himself when I give him the long suffering look he's seen umpteen times in the last two days.

| Friday, June 14, 2013, 11:10:10 PM- | It has been an all-around fantastic day.
The project I'm helping a friend work on is coming together nicely. I just need to do a little more research and then they get to deal with the final phase.
Sales were good for the week and the spawn's broken car is an easy fix.
Last but not least, I got the final decision from the review board for unemployment. When I lost my last job -- cuz I was wacky enough to ask for reduced hours due to Mom's health issues -- I filed for unemployment. Ex-boss disputed it and we've been going round and round with appeals, filings, hearings, reviews, etc. Since January, I've not spent a single penny of what's been piling up just in case I had to pay it back. That hurdle is now cleared and I have a nifty little nest egg.
There will be substantial quantities of wine consumed tonight.
Hugs,

| Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 12:52:21 AM- | Wow! I'm exhausted but it's totally in a good way. The shop was really hopping all day long. We didn't even have time to grab a bite of food til around 3. I cannot believe how the time flew by.
The first healthy deposit from cash sales has been put into the bank and I'm feeling damn good about it. Each day brings a few new faces and several others who have already become "regulars."
Exuberantly,

| Wednesday, June 05, 2013, 11:17:08 AM- | Yeah...so... Mom's 81st birthday went relatively well. We took her to a Japanese steakhouse and she enjoyed all the goings-on and was grinning through the entire meal. Only real glitch was when she got pissy that we thought she was 81. She insisted she was 71. Uh... no, mom. 81. Do the math. She couldn't figure out how she'd lost 10 years. I told her it was her wild lifestyle. That made her smile and the moment passed. Overall, it was a pretty good day for her. Whew!

| Monday, June 03, 2013, 2:20:54 PM- | Well, Mom turns 81 today. Back in December when she was hospitalized, I truly didn't think she'd last this long. She's one tough old broad. :)
The Alzheimer's continues to progress. Her diabetes continues to become more difficult to manage. Her personality continues to change and she continues to withdraw from life more with each passing week. BUT... she's still with us and has times now and then when she's here with us in the moment. I'll take what I can get.
Regardless of how hard some days are to get through, she's still my mommy and I love her.
Bittersweet smiles,

| Friday, May 31, 2013, 11:34:08 AM- | Well, that wasn't nearly as miserable as anticipated...once the Novocain wore off and I wasn't worried about chewing the inside of my mouth off, that is.
In other news, it's been raining on and off every day for the last week. Nothing major, just spring showers. All the flowers that I'd planted a few weeks back are loving the heck out of it and growing like mad. Also, all the seeds I'd scattered have finally sprouted. Too bad I didn't save the packaging cuz I can't remember what the heck I put out there. Oops. Oh well, it'll be a bunch of nice surprises in a month or so. lol
