This article popped up on my Facebook because I liked the movie "300" and it was mentioned. Interesting read. Here's an excerpt.

When the original 300 film hit theaters in 2006, a grueling fitness program called the “300 workout” swept gyms across the U.S. as men hoping to get gladiator-like bodies signed on. The workout, which was developed to get the cast of the films in fighting shape, has a pretty basic concept: 300 reps of various exercises with no breaks. But it is so intense that the cast had to train six hours per day, five days per week for four months before they could even attempt the 300 workout, and only one actor, Andrew Pleavin, was able to actually complete it. In a Men’s Health interview, Gerard Butler admitted that he could not workout for a year after filming 300 because the program made him so physically exhausted.

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath. "Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?" Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet." He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?" Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles gently in the other. She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine." Porn Stars Would Have To Wear Goggles Under New Draft Of California Bill

Should safety always come first?

The newest version of a California bill worker safety bill would require adult film actors to wear protective goggles, Salon reports.

Measure B -- Bill AB 640 -- gained national attention earlier this year by proposing that actors in the porn industry be required to wear condoms to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted infections.

The bill is stalled in the senate, but the most recent proposed draft would -- in addition to mandating condom use -- require that "personal protective equipment" be used to "prevent contact of an employee's eye; skin, mucous membranes, or genitals with the blood or OPIM-STI of another."

"OPIM STI" is defined by OSHA as:

Pre-ejaculate, ejaculate, semen, vaginal secretions, fecal matter and rectal secretions, secretions from wounds or sores that are potentially infected with sexually transmitted pathogens, any other bodily fluid when visibly contaminated with blood or all bodily fluids in situations where it is difficult or impossible to differentiate between bodily fluids.

In November, Los Angeles County passed the Safer Sex in the Adult Film Industry Act -- also known as "Measure B" -- that required porn actors in Los Angeles to wear condoms during all vaginal and anal sex scenes. Despite stiff opposition from adult performers and producers, the bill passed by majority vote.

Before Measure B passed, porn stars James Deen and Jessica Drake protested the measure by filming a satirical public service announcement depicting a future in which porn stars must wear safety goggles and protective head gear.

With the new AB 640 draft, it seems that their PSA may not have been so ridiculous after all.

Notably, some porn stars have vocalized support for condom mandates. Porn performers Cindy Starfall and Sovereign Syre told HuffPost Live in October that they would like the option to use condoms on set. Starfall said that directors and producers would regularly not allow performers to wear condoms even if they wanted to do so.
