I am so excited I almost wet myself. No seriously I'm doing a mega happy dance. I received an e-mail today from the collections curator at the museum telling me how behind they were and what I would be working on. I CAN'T FRIGGIN' WAIT FOR MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
I get to enter the catalog info for plant specimens :)
WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but science stuff really rocks my world lol. I'm a total nerd........and I love it :)
I miss good old jingles for products......it all started with Nike using The Beatles "Revolution"........bastards lol.
This song is stuck in my head........not sure why and it happens to be a jingle for perfume. The funny thing is the name of the perfume, matches the first name of the tv show the woman in the commercial was starring in later.
Evidently it's the perfume that helps you get laid........not being one of the only females aboard a ship full of men lol.
"I do miss the jingles and the creation of those jingles. Now people get lazy and buy a song from a group or a singer. They lack imagination and can't think anymore."

Information overload in this research project. It's really fascinating the information that is out there regarding the territories "role" in the Civil War. And in doing the research I've found some family names and as suspected they ARE indeed relatives. On my mothers side our great, great, grandmother could trace her history to the original couple (of the same name) that came over from Cornwall to the Eastern US. Evidently, 90% of all the folks with this last name (and I'm not mentioning it) can also trace their roots back to this one couple.
I found out that my great, great, grandmothers father left his family temporarily to find his fortune out West (from Iowa) and two days after leaving, his horses brought back an empty wagon and he was never heard from again. I would love to know if he just left and the wife told the nicer version of the story to her children, or if something horrible befell him. The wife did remarry after "a suitable time period" the article stated.
The museum also has mega tons of other research and cataloguing work to do, and many other projects they just don't have enough people for. So I will be busy full time for a while starting next week volunteering at the museum. I love that place and it was my favorite job of all time. It felt good to go back and visit with a couple of people I used to work with, and also sad to hear who has died amongst who I worked with, or some of the lovely volunteers that passed on. I've helped out a little bit before, but this is a much larger committment and I am looking forward to using my little grey cells on "thinky" stuff as HP says lol. That and my eldest sister will now have to get out and around alone, which will produce a drop in MY stress levels.
So all is very very good right now. And thank you HP for the "subtle" hint on my FB page lol ;) You ARE right of course.
We tell people to have a spine when posting their pics or blogs. Yet all of us have a breaking point where we think some shit is just damned rude. So all of you that say "so and so should just grow up and get a spine".......well maybe their trigger is smaller than yours? I can take most anything now because why take anything personal said on the internet. However, I do not condemn those that do. And when we women get tons of "why won't you......." comments and then rude comments calling us everything from dyke (you did know that's a device used to hold back water yes?) to slut, to whore, to tease etc ad nauseum.........most of us ignore it, but after too many we do have to stand up and say no more. It's like the media saying that famous people "deserve" to be stalked by the paparazzi because they want the fame. No. No one deserves to be harrassed (fuck I hope I spelled that correctly) by anyone, and what doesn't bother you may bother others. So let's cut those folks some slack eh? And don't say they are inviting the attention because the same could be said for every person here posting naked pics.
WOW tons of information. I had a training seminar on HOW to do research for a specific project for the state historical society. Because Washington State wasn't IN the Civil War you would have thought that no one had an opinion or part in it either. Evidently we (the state) even had a group plotting to gather several hundred rebels in Victoria BC and go from San Francisco to Mexico and start over there.
Very bizarre how some of these people felt. Reminds me a lot about the anger now with this administration, only 10x worse of course back then.
There are manuscripts, books, newspaper articles (there was a slave escape underground between this state and Victoria) and hand written letters. The handwritten stuff is fairly easy to read, but I guess some of the people doing the research (from all over the state) are so young that they don't know how to read cursive, and definitely don't write in it.
So yeah, it was good to know I was old ....I mean in case I had any lingering doubts. *le sigh*
All in all it was a great day, and very informative.
I always loved Paul Lynde. I had trouble finding just ONE funny moment on youtube but then I found this. If you don't remember Paul Lynde then you won't find it amusing.
